Programme of Recovery:
Recent studies have shown that recovery programmes offering "practical skills" have the widest appeal in terms of benefit to the greatest number of people.

Service Aims & Objectives:

Aims:

TPCI's aim is to teach basic woodturning and woodworking skills, in a purpose built workshop, for people throughout Shetland, who desire to build stable, productive lives free from alcohol and/or drugs misuse.

We aim to provide our clients with a confidential, private and safe environment where they will have the opportunity to realise goals they have set for themselves and maintain their recovery.

Our aim is met by the following objectives:

Objectives:

  • enable the client to gain progressively higher status and responsibility.
  • to provide a safe place to work.
  • to raise self worth.
  • to develop self control.
  • to encourage clients to take responsibility in the implementation of their own recovery.
  • to set realistic goals, based primarily on the persons own issues.
  • to promote personal growth.
  • help meet clients need to achieve personal employment goals.
  • provide a positive alternative to the seemingly endless 'merry-go-round' of abuse, detox and relapse.
